Thailand and Cambodia; absurd near death story.

Mrs. Green was the name of the beat up green Land Rover that drove me and a few other strangers through the hazy border of Thailand and Cambodia. The ruins of the Khmer empire reached this far and I wanted to see them.
I was surprised by the similarity with some peruvian Chavin temples and their iconography. Also by the constant presence of military troups around the scattered ghostly temples. I wandered around and shot some slides and at some time decided to skit around the grounds and light up behind some bushes. The angry scream of Mr. Sihai (owner/driver of Mrs. Green) brought me out of my daydreaming and for a sec I thought he was giving me a warning for my puffing, but not. What he finally said was that the whole area had been a war zone not long ago, land mines where still around and only the marked trails where safe. He warned me to walk back very slowly, to step on my own footprints and stay calmed. I pictured myself blowing up in pieces, one of which would be still holding a smoke. Embarrasing aftermath for such a promising youngster. Which happily did not occur. I made it back to the trail, Mr. Sihai scolded me in angry sounding Thai and then we set off to visit the silkworm villages, something way less explosive.

My pics from that era are still unscanned, living a secluded life as slides and randomly decorating the light column in my bar. But I hope to add them to this post soon.
And here are some, for those who disbeleif...

Despué de rodar 5mil kilómetros, no hay quien me tome la foto.
